Born in 1962, I am a proud Swiss national with a solid background in mechanical engineering.
Over the decades, I have specialized in Project Management, particularly in constructing tobacco and food production plants worldwide.
This extensive experience has given me a deep understanding of engineering principles and project execution.
My passion for electronics ignited at a very young age. By the age of 8, I was already building crystal radios, and my interest in technology only grew stronger over the years. As a teenager, I delved into the world of computers, programming in Microsoft BASIC on my father’s IBM 5610 office computer, one of the first with a massive 10MB hard drive…..

This early exposure to electronics and computing laid a strong foundation for my future endeavors.
End of 1991, after many years of engaging with CB radio, I obtained my amateur radio (HAM) license (HB9VIU for VHF&UHF, and later HB9IIU for HF). However, due to the demands of my professional career, I was unable to dedicate much time to radio activities.
Now, as I approach retirement, I have decided to rekindle my passion for amateur radio, a hobby I still deeply love.
In resuming my journey in the HAM radio world, I have quickly realized how much the field has evolved.
The advent of digital modes, satellite communications, and other technological advancements have opened up new and exciting possibilities for amateur radio enthusiasts.
I find immense joy in the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering, along with coding. This multidisciplinary approach keeps my brain active and engaged, offering endless opportunities for learning and innovation. Whether it’s designing new circuits, coding for embedded systems, or building complex mechanical structures, the blend of these fields provides a stimulating and fulfilling experience.
What makes it even more exciting is the fact that instrumentation like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, SDRs (Software-Defined Radios), etc. have now become affordable for hobbyists.
This accessibility opens up a world of possibilities, making the exploration and experimentation in these fields incredibly thrilling.
As I navigate these new developments, I am excited to share my experiences and knowledge with fellow enthusiasts. Whether it’s through my blog, projects, or on-the-air conversations,
I look forward to contributing to the vibrant HAM radio community.
